Arsenal handed late fitness boost vs Man City as Granit Xhaka arrives for Premier League title clash

Granit Xhaka arrived off the team bus on Wednesday night ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City, raising hopes he will make the starting line-up for the crucial Premier League clash.

The title could well be decided at the Etihad Stadium and the Gunners were sweating over Xhaka’s fitness after he missed last week’s draw with Southampton due to illness.

But Mikel Arteta has taken the Swiss midfielder to Manchester in the hope that he shakes off the issue ahead of the 8pm BST kick-off.

“Granit has been out,” Arteta told reporters on Friday.

“Hopefully he will able to train today, but he is still a doubt.”

Arsenal are without William Saliba, Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu for tonight’s game due to long-term injuries.

Still sat top of the table, the Gunners’ lead would be cut to just two points if they lose in Manchester with City holding two games in hand.
