Arsenal handed a Premier League transfer judgment for Mikel Arteta's proposed £58m striker deal

Tammy Abraham is set to face Premier League opposition in Leicester City on Thursday evening in the semi-final of the UEFA Europa Conference League. This will be an excellent opportunity for Arsenal to see how much he has matured as a striker since leaving Chelsea in the summer.

Arsenal are set to make a £50million offer for Abraham, according to the Daily Star. The Gunners were linked with a move for the former Chelsea and England forward in the summer, however, he moved to Italy and has impressed since.

football.london understands that Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus and Abraham are among the shortlisted profiles who could arrive at Emirates Stadium this summer. If Abraham manages to put in a good performance against Leicester, then that could give Edu the green light to pursue a deal for the Roma forward.

Abraham ended up joining Roma in a £40 million deal from Chelsea in the summer after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Thomas Tuchel. It was reported that the Englishman wanted to join Arsenal and the Gunners were keen on pursuing a deal, but they had to offload one of the strikers beforehand.

However, Edu could come back in for the Englishman due to the worrying situation that is set to hit the north London side when it comes to the striker position ahead of next season. The current experienced forward for Arsenal is Alexandre Lacazette but his contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and according to French outlet L’Equipe, his former club Lyon are interested in resigning him.

If he does depart from the club then Arsenal could be left with just one recognised striker in the form of Folarin Balogun. Nketiah’s contract is also set to expire at the end of the season and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Barcelona means that Edu would have offloaded three forwards within the space of six months.

Abraham has an excellent opportunity against Leicester City to show that he is ready to come back and dominate the Premier League. Fans have doubts about the Englishman’s ability to replicate his form from the Serie A into the Premier League, but if he performs well against the Foxes over both legs, this will certainly help to erase those queries about him.

The 24-year-old has been excellent for Roma this season scoring 24 goals in 46 appearances. He also broke the record for the most goals scored by an Englishman in a single Serie A season, showing the growth in his development since his departure from Chelsea.

However, the interest shown in him by Arsenal could cool if he fails to show up in his side’s biggest game of the season against Leicester. It is an excellent opportunity for the forward to show that he is the man to lead the line for the Gunners.
