Arsenal half time player ratings vs Everton as Gabriel Jesus stars and William Saliba impresses

Matt Turner: Was nice and alert to sweep up a few chances for Calvert-Lewin on occasion and a couple of strong saves from Everton shots. Very popular with the home fans unsurprisingly. However, his playing out from the back left a bit to be desired. 6.

Cedric: Linked up well with Saka and Odegaard to reprise the impressive right-hand side of the second hand from last season. Grabbed an assist for Jesus' opener 7.

William Saliba: Stood up excellently to the physical challenge presented by Calvert-Lewin and demonstrated his ability to defend one-vs-one nicely as well. Could even have scored to cap off a perfect second debut, but had his shot cleared off the line. 8.

Gabriel: Got somewhat needlessly involved in a shoving match with Doucoure, but always looked in control. Positioned himself well to deal with Everton's attempts to go over the top. 7.

Nuno Tavares: Some nice play going forward with good delivery, but found himself out of position on one occasion to allow Nathan Patterson a chance to cross. 6.

Thomas Partey: Efficient in possession at the base of midfield. Tried to find some incisive passes through the Everton low block and looked decent in the tackle. 6.

Martin Odegaard: Some nice attempts to break the line with creative passes, but the Norwegian was a little anonymous on his return to the team. 6.

Granit Xhaka: Hit the post with a header from a corner but was a little loose in possession giving the ball away in a crucial area to nearly allow Dele Alli in for a shooting chance. 6.

Bukayo Saka: Caused Everton's left back constant problems with his direct running on the right and was on hand to profit as Jesus' intended ball for Martinelli went astray. 8.

Gabriel Jesus: Yet again the Brazilian was excellent. So intense in everything he did and more than willing to stand up to the physical battle with Yerry Mina. The finish for his goal was emphatic, and his assist for Saka's goal was a lovely bit of creativity, even if it was a tad fortunate. 9.

Gabriel Martinelli: A real threat down the left with his direct running, although his end product upon getting to the byline could be improved. 7.
