Arsenal given huge transfer boost for Corentin Tolisso that could save Mikel Arteta millions

Midfielder Corentin Tolisso has been released from Bayern Munich as a free agent after failing to reach an agreement with the club over a new contract. It comes after Arsenal were one of a number of sides linked with a move for the Frenchman earlier this year.

Should the Gunners revive their interest, the 27-year-old could be one of a number of potential incomings in a huge summer for the club. Mikel Arteta has the challenge of bringing in a number of players to help improve his squad in a bid to return to the Champions League.

On his plans for the summer, the Spaniard said: "We are going to have certain resources, not unlimited resources, some resources. And with our resources we have to play and do what we have to do in the best possible way."

A few different areas have been highlighted as key to the success of the transfer window, with strikers and midfielders towards the top of that list. Goal scoring has been a particular issue in the past season for the side, with a host of players linked to fill that gap.

The central ranks have also been a concern, with a lack of depth beyond regular starting pair Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey. While Ruben Neves and Youri Tielemans have both reportedly been on the radar of the Gunners, they could revive interest in another target to save millions.

That is Tolisso, who has recently been released from Bayern Munich as a free agent. The 27-year-old managed 118 appearances across all competitions for the Bavarian club, scoring 21 goals and assisting 15.

However, with his injury history, it could be a risky move to make. With plenty of time left before the market even opens, decisions are still to be made, but if Arteta is set to be careful with his resources, a free transfer like Tolisso could be the ideal move.
