Arsenal given green light to sign Real Madrid Champions League star to replace Kieran Tierney

The next few weeks are huge for Arsenal as they learn their Premier League title fate, but beyond that, they'll be preparing to create a dynasty that'll last beyond this season. The summer transfer window is right around the corner and Mikel Arteta will be hopeful of adding some players that will keep his side at the top for years to come.

Plenty of areas need addressing, such as the midfield as football.london understands that the Gunners have made Declan Rice a top priority for the upcoming market. Beyond there, the balance of the squad may have to be addressed with some exits to ensure they can compete.

"They are always tough decisions," Arteta told Sky Sports earlier this month on the upcoming window. "Whether it's to recruit, or other decisions. Some players sometimes don't want to continue with us, some staff members. It's always tough, especially when you have good relationships with those individuals, but we are here to win.

"That's the purpose of everybody at the club. We have to win and to win we have to do it in our way and to do that we have to make decisions." One of those decisions that may have to be made is over Kieran Tierney, with the left-back struggling for game time since the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Scotland international has been linked with an exit as a result, but with few options on the left, it means that a move elsewhere would likely have to be agreed to first. Well according to the Mirror, that switch may already be in the works as the Gunners have been offered the chance to sign Ferland Mendy from Real Madrid.

The report claims that Los Blancos will ask for £17.5million to let the Frenchman leave, with the 27-year-old being a key feature in recent Champions League successes. It remains to be seen whether a move will be pursued, but it could allow for the dominoes to fall in the transfer window.
