Arsenal given green light to complete Jurrien Timber transfer as FIFA open second window today

Any summer transfer window can be split into two as unlike deals completed in January, things are not exactly straightforward to begin with.

Part one saw the transfer window open on Wednesday, June 14 but only for all clubs in England and Scotland. As a result, as per FIFA's ruling, players signed from Premier League, EFL and Scottish teams could be registered immediately which was the case for Kai Havertz upon sealing a £65million move to Arsenal from Chelsea.

Of course, the same has applied with regard to the Gunners' pursuit of West Ham United captain Declan Rice. However, after finally reaching an agreement, in principle, over a club-record £105million transfer, after seeing two bids rejected, Mikel Arteta's side will not reap any benefits of completing this deal in June.

Furthermore, with the north London outfit also linked with Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, Southampton's Romeo Lavia and Joao Cancelo of Manchester City they would have been permitted to take advantage of the loophole last month as all three ply their trade in the top flight of English football.

But as it's July 1 today, effectively a second summer transfer window has officially opened - the international window. This grants clubs permission to sign players based overseas in addition to those recruited from a domestic rival. Simply put, any and all signings can be registered as soon as a deal is finalised.

Therefore, with the north London outfit on course to reach an agreement, for example, with Ajax for versatile defender Jurrien Timber, he will be registered as an Arsenal player once all the formalities such as undergoing a successful medical and signing a contract are completed.

It's not just Arsenal who can register new signings from today. Serie A outfit Monza can do so for Pablo Mari after it was officially confirmed that the defender's loan deal has turned into a permanent transfer for a fee believed to be in the region of £5.9million.

Meanwhile, Granit Xhaka's exit from the Emirates Stadium could be sped up now that Bayer Leverkusen are in a position to register the Switzerland captain. As previously reported by football.london, talks over a £13million deal were at an advanced stage towards the end of May and perhaps it's just a matter of time before it gets completed.

Elsewhere, Arsenal have already announced Nikolaj Moller's permanent switch to St Gallen and Catalin Cirjan's return to his homeland of Romania by joining Rapid Bucharest on a season-long loan, but as both are overseas clubs, those deals officially came into effect at midnight.
