Arsenal given FA disciplinary charge ahead of north London derby vs Tottenham

Arsenal have been charged by the FA for failing to ensure players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the 34th minute of their third round FA Cup clash against Oxford.

The full statement from FA spokesperson read: Arsenal FC has been charged with breaching FA rule E20.1 during its tie against Oxford FC in the FA Cup on Monday 9 January 2023. It's alleged that Arsenal FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 34th minute, and the club has until Monday 16 January 2023 to respond.

The incident Arsenal are facing FA charges for came about following an unsuccessful penalty appeal in the first half at the Kassam Stadium. Albert Sambi Lokonga saw his shot blocked by Elliott Moore, with multiple pleas arriving from Arsenal stars that it was with his arm which saw referee David Coote surrounded by Arsenal players.

No Arsenal was booked during the game for this specific incident, but the FA have deemed that the Gunners have breached an FA rule and thus will likely face disciplinary charges.

In their previous game, the Gunners were charged after breaching the same rule after Andy Madley waved away two penalty shouts.

Mikel Arteta's side are back in Premier League action this weekend as they face Tottenham in a north London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
