Arsenal given huge Joshua Kimmich transfer chance as midfielder makes clear admission on move

Arsenal could be given a free run in the chase for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich despite reports previously linking the Germany star to Liverpool and Barcelona.

A report from Marca claims that multiple teams across Europe are keen on adding Kimmich to their ranks, with Barca boss Xavi said to view the 28-year-old as a successor to Sergio Busquets, who will leave Camp Nou as a free agent this summer.

It is, however, mentioned that Bayern will demand a transfer fee of at least €60 million to part with Kimmich and are under no pressure to sell one of their star assets.

With the Blaugrana's financial situation extremely well-documented, such a price tag could prevent them from making a move for Kimmich, while they have also been strongly rumoured with signing Wolves star Ruben Neves.

Entering the final year of his contract at Molineux, it is likely Neves will cost less than Kimmich and the Portuguese international's latest comments suggest he is very keen on completing a move away from the West Midlands club.

After Wolves' 1-1 draw against Everton this afternoon Neves admitted: "I want to be here, but I never hide that I want to play Champions League football. It’s a hard decision. Me and my family love it here, but in football, you have to go for your main goals.

"Nothing’s happened yet. If it was my last game here I really enjoyed it and I’m very thankful for the last six seasons."

Liverpool, meanwhile, appear to have set their sights elsewhere. Following an underwhelming for the Merseyside club, James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all departed Anfield as Jurgen Klopp aims to rejuvenate his ranks.

Argentinian journalist Gaston Edul suggests that Alexis MacAllister is the player that they will aim to sign, with a deal apparently close to conclusion.

Barcelona's financial situation and interest in Neves, combined with Liverpool's preference for World Cup-winner MacAllister, could well put Arsenal in pole position to sign Kimmich.

Kimmich joined the Bavarians from VfB Stuttgart in 2015, and he has since gone on to make 345 competitive appearances during a hugely successful era for the club.
