Arsenal fear North London Derby curse amid Hugo Lloris injury blow for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has withdrawn from France's squad for their upcoming Nations League fixtures with a thigh strain. The extent of Lloris' injury is unknown, although it is severe enough for him to withdraw from the French squad that face Austria and Denmark this week.

Spurs fans will be sweating on the fitness of their goalkeeper, hoping that he's fit for the north London derby clash against Arsenal on October 1. Antonio Conte's side make the short trip to the Emirates Stadium in the first game after the international break.

However, it won't be just be Spurs supporters who will be crossing their fingers that Lloris is fit enough to face Arsenal. As bizarre as it sounds, some Gunners fans will be hoping that Tottenham's captain has fully recovered to face their side.

That's because summer signing Fraser Forster - Lloris' back-up - has an incredible record when playing against Arsenal. The last two times Forster has faced Arsenal have ended in the goalkeeper keeping a clean sheet and being on the winning side - both ending 1-0 to Southampton.

In February 2016, the 34-year-old set a personal record for number of saves made in a game, when he made 10 stops to deny Arsenal, beating his previous best of seven, which was also set against the north London club. Forster starred in Southampton's 1-0 win against the Gunners in April this year too, making six saves.

In total, he has played 10 games against the Gunners, winning five, losing just two, while keeping five clean sheets. Therefore, for different reasons, Spurs and Arsenal fans may be united in their wish that Lloris recovers from his thigh strain for the north London derby.
