Arsenal are 'fascinated' with Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin and could make a move for the striker in the summer.
That's according to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who says that the 24-year-old England international is 'planning his next steps' right now, with Atletico Madrid also said to be interested in his services.
The tweet from Plettenberg reads: "News Calvert-Lewin: The 24yo striker plans his next steps. A move in summer is likely. @Arsenal is fascinated about him.
"@Atleti also inquired about him a few weeks ago, he's one their targets this summer. Price tag is more than €40m #EFC."
The Gunners are chasing a striker this month, with Dusan Vlahovic being the club's priority target, but as we approach the final week of the January transfer window, a move is looking less and less likely for the Serbian.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said after the 0-0 draw with Burnley on Sunday afternoon that the club are still trying to bring some new faces to the Emirates Stadium before next Monday's deadline.
Arteta said: "Well, we are certainly trying (to sign new players), but I do not know if we are going to be able to do it. Let's see.
"It is not only our intention but a lot of facts that are needed to happen."
What's been said on Calvert-Lewin?
Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson urged his old club to go out and buy Calvert-Lewin, when speaking on Sky Sports last month.
"Arsenal need to go out and buy Calvert-Lewin as soon as he is fit," Merson said. "Put in a massive bid for him. They need a focal point up front who is good and strong and can hold the ball up.
"Everton are not bigger than Arsenal. Arsenal are going to finish above them. If Calvert-Lewin goes, they have a chance to get in the top four."
