Arsenal fans spot cryptic detail in Jurrien Timber Instagram post amid mooted transfer

A portion of Arsenal fans are convinced that Ajax defender Jurrien Timber is on his way to the Emirates following a seemingly innocent Instagram post.

Timber, 22, has been contacted by the Gunners with a view to a transfer which would likely cost in excess of £30million. Manchester United have long been tipped to sign him, thanks to former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag's relationship with the Netherlands international centre-back, and Liverpool were also tagged with interest at the start of the summer.

But now Arsenal appear to be leading the race for Timber, who's just got supporters even more excited by his potential arrival thanks his choice of song for a brief Instagram video. While on holiday, the 22-year-old shared a clip of himself looking out onto the ocean with the caption: "Living in the moment."

Yet it wasn't that part of the post which Arsenal fans noticed, but rather the music playing over the video, 'go crazy' by Gunna. Of course, the American rapper's name alludes to the Premier League club's nickname, the Gunners.

Timber's choice of song sent supporters into a mini social media frenzy, with one writing: "Yea he is going to be a 'gunner'." Another user added: "The gooner FBI squad on it again with another belter of a discovery."

The Dutchman's comments section was also flooded with jubilant Arsenal fans who are on board with what could be Mikel Arteta and co's next piece of business. Having seen a £30m bid turned down earlier this week, the Gunners are set to lodge a follow-up offer in the hope that Ajax will sell their highly-rated academy graduate.

Crucially, Timber can also play at right-back, a position which Arteta has struggled to find a solution for ever since he returned to the Emirates as manager nearly four years ago. Mirror Football understands that Timber believes he has a verbal agreement with Ajax which will allow him to join Arsenal this summer.

He's already expressed his openness to a move away, telling Vandaag Inside: "Will I stay with Ajax anyway? I'm not sure, I can't say that. I'm not in talks with Ajax now. My agent had a good talk a few times, but it's not like we're talking about anything right now."

Timber added: "There is a lot of concrete interest and I have made agreements with Ajax. Last year Ajax asked me to stay for at least one more season and to extend my contract. As a club boy, I did that with love and after the season we will review the situation. At the Dutch national team, I often talk to boys who play football abroad. I want to take that step someday."
