Arsenal fans make Emile Smith Rowe point amid Djed Spence transfer links

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest loanee Djed Spence in recent times.

Spence, who is on loan from fellow Championship side Middlesbrough, enjoyed a stellar display against the Gunners last month, delivering a defensive masterclass to keep Gabriel Martinelli quiet as Forest clinched a famous 1-0 victory in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Englishman then enjoyed another memorable afternoon on Sunday as Steve Cooper's men beat Leicester City 4-1, with the talented fullback scoring his side's fourth goal.

And after the game, some Arsenal supporters on Reddit found a picture of the 23-year-old playing alongside Hale End academy graduate Emile Smith Rowe as a young boy.

This comes after a report from Goal claimed that the north Londoners were keen to sign a right-back this summer to compete with Takehiro Tomiyasu, with Spence named as a potential target for technical director Edu.

Gunners icon Ian Wright is a huge fan of Spence's, comparing him to countrymen Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold last month.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House podcast, he said: "I saw him after the game (against Arsenal) and said 'listen, my friend. You're on loan from Middlesbrough and I don't know what's happened there, because if you can't get into the Middlesbrough side, I don't know what's wrong, so I need to know the full story'.

"But let me say, that was one of the best right back performances I have seen for a very long time. A very long time.

"If we are talking about right-backs performing at an unbelievable level, we're talking Reece James and Trent [Alexander-Arnold].

"But I have not seen a combative, technical, swashbuckling performance like that for a very long time.

"I said to him afterwards, 'whatever's happening, whatever you're doing, the level you've just shown us here is the level you have to be consistently hitting, Djed'.

“I said ‘All seriously, that level what I saw there, you should be in the Premier League’.”
