Arsenal face transfer decision over Mika Biereth as summer interest mounts

Arsenal will hold talks with Sturm Graz this week as the Austrian club push to sign Mika Biereth on a permanent deal.

The striker has spent the second half of the season on loan at Sturm Graz and he has impressed during his time there.

Biereth has scored nine goals and laid on four assists, prompting the Austrian club to want to sign him permanently.

Arsenal now have a decision to make as Biereth has just one year left on his contract this summer.

The 21-year-old has proved to be a prolific goalscorer at youth level, but he has not made his senior debut for Arsenal.

Sturm Graz will face competition for Biereth’s signature from Championship clubs, including Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls wanted to sign the striker back in January, but Sturm Graz won the race as they were able to offer European football.

Biereth has been at Arsenal since 2021, when they signed him from Fulham.

He was a prolific goalscorer for Fulham Under-18s, scoring 21 goals in as many games during his final season.

Sturm Graz is the third club Biereth has joined on loan since moving to Arsenal, following stints at Dutch side RKC Waalwijk and Motherwell of the Scottish Premiership.

Biereth had been at Motherwell for the first half of last season but his loan was cut short after Sturm Graz expressed an interest.
