All the focus has been on strengthening at Arsenal. Improving the squad with great players, renewing the contracts of both Mikel Arteta and key young stars, which form the bedrock of the Gunners’ future.
However, few potentially foresaw the possibility of one of the integral parts of the Arsenal machine leaving anytime soon. Yet, that now has become a potential reality after it emerged the club’s technical director, Edu, is garnering interest from outside the club.
Speaking to The Athletic Football Podcast, David Ornstein revealed that, speaking to people in the game, he had become aware of the growing interest in Edu. Although, he did provide Arsenal supporters hope that a potential departure would be resisted.

"When you speak to people in the game, there's been interest in Edu from elsewhere, he's had opportunities. But they are going to hope to keep this nucleus they've got together now at the executive level and at the player level.
"If Arsenal make it into next season's Champions League, then the revenues will take a massive uplift. Don't forget that the Kroenke's have been largely funding this process, in exactly what form in terms of loan, equity or whatever I'm not an expert on, but it is a serious undertaking."
Arsenal fans might have been keen to see a change of structure after back-to-back eighth-place finishes in the table. However, Edu has worked hard alongside Arteta and Richard Garlick to bring quality to the club and even break spending records for transfer windows.
Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table of nine games, having won all but one of the matches so far. Including victories over Liverpool and Tottenham and historically tricky fixtures against Crystal Palace and Brentford.
There is tangible evidence of progression at the club, and Edu has been at the centre of this for some time now. Seeing it break apart would cast serious uncertainty about the club's future recruitment, with no guarantee the Brazilian's replacement would align as perfectly with those already at the club.
