Arsenal could face an uphill battle in signing transfer target Mykhaylo Mudryk, after missing out on a move to land the winger in the summer. That's because the i reports that Premier League rivals Newcastle United are readying a £50million bid to Shakhtar Donetsk to beat the Gunners to his signature.
The Magpies are said to be on the lookout for a new winger to bring balance to their forward line, with the asking price not beyond their spending power. Eddie Howe may face more than just Arsenal though, as reports also claim the likes of Liverpool and Everton are monitoring the 21-year-old's situation.
Whoever manages to land Mudryk may have one of the most highly-coveted wonderkids in the game, having risen to notoriety through recent performances. Two goals and two assists in two Champions League appearances this season furthers that claim, with the youngster already discussing a potential move.

"I think every guy dreams about the Premier League," Mudryk said when asked about a transfer before being asked specifically about joining Arsenal. "It’s hard to say but Arsenal is a very good team. Very good coach, I like the way they play."
Should they miss out, Mikel Arteta may be ruing the fact his side appeared to miss a late move for the youngster in the summer. There are also clear concerns for squad depth at the club, especially when hitting the busier months of the upcoming schedule.
Bukayo Saka remains the only senior right-wing option as things stand, while the injury concerns for Emile Smith Rowe continue to hand problems to the manager. January could offer the Spaniard a perfect chance to deal with this issue, but if they have to compete financially with Newcastle's £50million bid, they may miss out on someone like Mudryk for the rest of the season as well as his potential for the future.
