Arsenal face Man United transfer mistake repeat as Premier League side join Mykhaylo Mudryk race

Arsenal face repeating a transfer mistake in failing to land Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk in the summer. The Ukraine international has continued to impress in recent weeks, with his Champions League exploits at the centre of that, as he scored two and assisted twice more two in their opening two games of the competition.

The 21-year-old has been tipped for big things, with Shakhtar director Darijo Srna claiming only Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe are better in his position at this moment. The Gunners failed to make a permanent move for the youngster though, with a price tag of over £50million set.

That said, Mudryk himself has opened up on the possibility of a move to Arsenal in the winter, telling CBS Sports: "I think every guy dreams about the Premier League. It's hard to say [who his preferred move is] but Arsenal is a very good team, very good coach, I like the way they play.

"From my side, I can't say no [to Arsenal]. But the transfer is not only my decision."

While it seemed as though Mikel Arteta could have a chance at signing Mudryk in the winter, there will undoubtedly be more competition for his signature now. That's including Premier League rivals Brighton, who are said to be eyeing a move, according to the Express.

It could see the winger reunite with manager Roberto De Zerbi, who has taken the reins with the Seagulls having lost Graham Potter to Chelsea. The former Shakhtar boss may be able to convince the youngster to join him once again, dealing a potential blow to Arsenal.

It would see a repeat of a mistake that they faced in the summer as they failed to move fast enough to seal a move for Lisandro Martinez before ultimately losing him to Manchester United. The defender had quoted Erik ten Hag, whom he played under at Ajax, as a reason why he made the switch.

Should the Gunners face a similar mistake with Mudryk, then they could miss out on landing a potential gem for the future in their team.
