Arsenal: Emile Smith Rowe set for Fulham medical as £34m fee agreed

Arsenal and Fulham have agreed a deal worth £34million for Emile Smith Rowe.

The move is a club-record one for Fulham, who will pay £27m across four years and a further £7m in add-ons.

Smith Rowe, who had also been attracting interest from Crystal Palace this summer, will now undergo a medical with Fulham and finalise personal terms before joining the club’s pre-season tour in Portugal.

The midfielder will hope that by leaving Arsenal he can kickstart his career after a difficult few years at Emirates Stadium.

Smith Rowe was a key part of the Arsenal team in the early part of Mikel Arteta’s reign, but he has slipped down the pecking order.

Injuries have hit him hard recently but, even when fit during the second half of last season, he struggled for action.

Smith Rowe played just 346 minutes in the Premier League last season and has not scored for Arsenal since April 2022.

The 24-year-old has been part of Arsenal’s squad out in the US on tour, but he has not played for them.

He was an unused substitute during the draw with Bournemouth last Thursday and was left out of the squad for the win over Manchester United at the weekend.

Arteta confirmed that was done as there were “things happening in the background” and Smith Rowe is now set to leave Arsenal.

The midfielder is a boyhood fan of the club and is a product of the club’s academy. He made his England senior debut in 2021 and last summer helped the Under-21s win the Euros.
