Arsenal: Declan Rice injury not serious amid Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard latest update

Arsenal have been boosted by the news that Declan Rice’s back injury is not thought to be serious.

Rice injured his back during Sunday’s north London derby against Tottenham and was forced off at half-time.

That prompted fears the midfielder could spend a spell on the sidelines, but the initial diagnosis is understood to be positive.

Rice is not thought to have done any serious damage but will continue to be assessed over the coming days and almost certainly sit out the trip to Brentford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

The same goes for Leandro Trossard, who has a muscle issue. He is due to have further tests in the coming days but the injury is not serious.

The Belgian is hoping that he could return to action for Arsenal’s trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday after missing the north London derby.

Arsenal will hope to get Trossard back for then as they are already without fellow left winger Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian is still receiving treatment on his hamstring after injuring it against Everton, but it is understood to not be a long-term issue.

Midfielder Thomas Partey, who has been out since last month with a groin injury, is progressing well and hopes to be back soon.

There is also positive news with Bukayo Saka, who took a knock to his foot in the draw with Spurs. That issue is understood to be nothing serious.
