Arsenal dealt transfer blow as Liverpool prepare £25m offer for Brazilian ace this summer

Arsenal are facing stiff competition in their bid to sign Torino centre-back Gleison Bremer this summer with Liverpool now preparing an offer for the Brazilian. The Gunners are set to invest in their squad again this summer and the Serie A defender is someone who has caught the eye at the Emirates Stadium.

Bremer has played in all but two of Torino's league games this season, captaining the side on multiple occasions and even scoring three goals. While Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes appear to be Mikel Arteta's first-choice pairing at the back, options remain limited beyond the duo, especially with Pablo Mari expressing a desire to stay in Italy after his loan spell.

William Saliba remains highly-rated but with the 20-year-old thriving during his campaign with Marseille, his future involvement in north London also remains a doubt. Recent reports also suggest Barcelona hold an interest in signing Gabriel this summer, which would leave Arteta with plenty to do in the transfer window.

Last summer saw the Gunners splash just over £140million on new recruits and we could see a repeat of that spending this time around with new midfielders and strikers also on the wish list.

But if Bremer is to join Arsenal, they face an uphill battle with Liverpool already preparing a £25million offer for the defender according to Tuttomercato. With the north Londoners looking to compete with the likes of Liverpool for transfer deals, it puts extra importance on qualifying for the Champions League.

As things stand, Jurgen Klopp undoubtedly holds an advantage over Arteta in this race. But if he can get his side firing again after back-to-back losses in the Premier League, that could soon change.
