Arsenal’s pursuit of former winger Serge Gnabry may have taken a huge blow if recent reports are to be believed. The Bayern Munich star has been heavily linked with a return to the Emirates in recent weeks.
It comes as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad once again in the summer transfer window. While the Spaniard missed out on a return to the Champions League in the previous campaign, the break may allow him to make additions to push for a top four finish.
Three players have already made the switch to the Emirates so far, with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus expected to be the fourth. The incomings seem unlikely to stop there though, as a number of high-profile players continue to be linked.

While Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez is considered as an option for the defence, Leeds United’s Raphinha is of interest for the forward line. Reports have suggested that the Gunners have had a bid rejected for the winger, though rivals Chelsea have had one accepted.
An alternative on the flank could be Gnabry, who has been linked with a return to the Emirates. The Germany international only has one-year remaining on his contract at Bayern Munich, putting doubts over where his future may be.
However, that pursuit could be in danger as the Daily Star reports that Manchester United have entered the race for the 26-year-old. It comes as the Red Devils are said to have been told that Cristiano Ronaldo wishes to leave the club if the right offer is received.
A bid of £40million is said to be able to land Gnabry this summer, due to his contractual situation, but it remains to be seen whether a move to either club is on the cards.
