Arsenal dealt huge striker transfer blow as Gunners eye Raphinha move over Chelsea and Barcelona

It’s the second day of the transfer window for summer 2022 and things are starting to heat up. A number of moves have already been completed as negotiations continue over signings across the world.

For Arsenal, there are a number of high-profile players linked with a switch to the Emirates as Mikel Arteta looks to improve his squad. The Spaniard’s transfers last time out worked well, largely impressing throughout the campaign.

Despite that, the Gunners narrowly missed out on a top four finish and Champions League qualification. It means that Europa League is on the cards for next season.

Arteta will be hoping his side can go one step further with a number of additions in the coming weeks. With that said, here’s a look at the latest rumours linking players to the club.

Alvaro Morata blow

Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their reported pursuit of Alvaro Morata, according to GOAL. The report claims that the Spaniard isn’t keen on a return to England, where he played for rivals Chelsea.

The decision is said to be down to both family and sporting reasons, with Juventus and Atletico Madrid both at the centre of his future.

Raphinha move

Arsenal are interested in a move for Leeds United winger Raphinha, reports the Telegraph. Barcelona and Chelsea have been previously linked with a move for the Brazilian, who has impressed in the Premier League.

Reports elsewhere have stated that £60million to £70million could be enough to land him from the Yorkshire outfit.

Maitland-Niles exit

Nottingham Forest are eyeing a transfer for Arsenal academy product Ainsley Maitland-Niles this summer, according to the Mirror. The 24-year-old only has one-year remaining on his deal at the Emirates.

He spent the second half of last season on-loan at AS Roma, but a permanent switch to Rome seems unlikely.
