Arsenal could secure £70.4m cash injection to help fund Raphinha and Lisandro Martinez transfers

Arsenal's trend of being busy in a transfer window since Mikel Arteta and Edu joined forces is already off to a fine start this summer with two deals confirmed and plenty more in the pipeline.

Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira have been recruited to bolster the Gunners' options out wide and in midfield, but there are still holes in the first-team squad that must be addressed before the window closes in order for the club to go up a level and secure a top-four finish next season.

One area that needs bolstering is the attack. Although it would appear that Arsenal are close to solving this problem as the Telegraph have reported that the club are growing in confidence with regards to completing a £50m deal for Manchester City and Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus.

If the north London outfit do spend £50m on the 25-year-old, taking the combined deals for Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira which have cost £33m in addition to the expected initial £4.5m fee for goalkeeper Matt Turner, that would be close to a £90m transfer outlay on four new signings.

This keeps in line with Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke's plan to back Arteta once again as looking at the permanent transfers since the American owner became the club's sole shareholder in September 2018 indicates that another big spending spree this summer is on the cards.

Although, there's no reason the Gunners can't get creative by raising extra cash by selling first-team players deemed surplus to requirements in order to fund deals for Leeds United winger Raphinha and Ajax's defender Lisandro Martinez - two players the club have seen bids rejected for.

With Leeds avoiding relegation from the Premier League last season, The Guardian claims that the Brazil international now has a £65million release clause. Meanwhile, according to Fabrizio Romano, Ajax want at least €50 million (£43million) to part company with Martinez.

So if Arsenal want to sign the pair, they may need to stump up a whopping £108m. In terms of player sales to help fund this double transfer, Nicolas Pepe could fetch the biggest fee. The Ivory Coast international has changed agents in the hope of joining a new club this summer with his asking price reportedly set in the region of £25m.

In truth, it was always unlikely that the Gunners were ever going to recoup anything close to the £72m fee paid to Lille to secure the winger's signature in the summer of 2019, but's important to obtain some sort of fee if they do end up parting company with the club-record signing.

Elsewhere, based on the loan agreement with Fiorentina - which wasn't activated - Lucas Torreira is free to leave for £13m, Sport Witness, claim Arsenal value Hector Bellerin at €20m (£17.1m) and are demanding £8.5m for Bernd Leno who has been linked with a move to Fulham.

Pablo Mari and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are two more first-team players expected to leave permanently this summer. As per CIES Football Observatory, both players have an estimated transfer value of €4m (£3.4m) which means an additional £6.8m could be raised by selling the pair in a dream scenario.

Player sales haven't been a strong point for Arsenal technical director Edu since taking up that role in the summer of 2019, but if he can turn things around there is a £70.4m cash injection he could possibly secure and that could go a long way to help funding deals for Raphinha and Martinez transfers.
