Arsenal might have been handed the ideal opportunity to make a move for Georginio Wijnaldum with Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Chelsea star N’Golo Kante.
According to The Telegraph, the French giants have been keeping abreast over developments on the Frenchman’s future at Stamford Bridge and with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2023, it is suggested that a bid could be lodged for his services in just a few months time.
The current European champions will of course be adverse to losing midfielder with him having been a key cog in the side since his 2016 arrival from Leicester City.
However, they may not be given a choice should the World Cup winner elect not to pen a new deal in west London and indeed edge towards a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Should a switch to the Parc des Princes come to fruition for Kante, then that could potentially assist Arsenal in securing one of their previous targets sooner rather than later.
Throughout the January transfer window, the Gunners were linked with Georginio Wijnaldum - the Dutchman having been frustrated with his opportunities in the French capital since waving goodbye to Liverpool.
It is certainly easy to sympathise with the 31-year-old having made just 16 starts for Les Parisiens all season long.
The addition of Kante would likely see his opportunities dwindle even further - especially if all of Danilo Pereira, Idrissa Gueye, Leandro Paredes and Ander Herrera are all retained.
Should Wijnaldum once again look for a switch, PSG might well be open to him leaving - thus handing Arsenal the perfect opportunity to move for his services.

Indeed, the Gunners have a dire need for midfield recruits ahead of next season, especially if they secure a return to the European stage.
football.london understands that Roma retain their interest in Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka, whilst Mohamed Elneny could be set to exit the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season with the expiry of his current deal.
That would leave Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga as the club’s central options - meaning a move that Wijnaldum could certainly make sense ahead of the summer window, an opportunity that could open up should PSG make an effort to sign Kante in the near future.
