Arsenal have made contact with Dusan Vlahovic's representatives over a possible January transfer following Gabriel Jesus' knee injury. The Gunners could be forced to dip their toe in the transfer market for a short-term fix next month to ensure they avoid dropping off in their Premier League table race.
Mikel Arteta's side were handed a major blow last week when the club confirmed Jesus had undergone surgery on a sustained knee injury whilst participating in the World Cup with Brazil. The forward had been an important member of Arsenal's team in their opening 14 games of the season with 12 goal contributions.
The striker will be hugely missed by Arsenal in the second half of the season and his absence is set to re-jig Edu's transfer strategy for the January transfer window. Many strikers have been linked since Jesus' injury was confirmed and a name supporters may remember for his links this time last year looks to be revisited - Vlahovic.

Reports in Italy have claimed that the Gunners have contacted the striker's representatives to discuss a possible deal in January. Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport claim Arteta's side are one of many clubs to ponder the striker's future amid uncertainty over whether he'll stay with Juventus.
The report suggests that discreet talks are alleged to have taken place during the World Cup, where Vlahovic netted in his nation's 3-2 defeat to Switzerland. The uncertainty over Juventus' finances has resulted in increased speculation over the future of many Old Lady stars and it is expected many will be linked with moves away.
However, it remains unclear whether Arteta will be interested in reigniting his interest in the striker after the striker's reluctance to join the club last year. In 2020, Arteta explained that he should not have to do too much convincing for a player to join the north Londoners, perhaps disregarding any future move.
"We only want the best people and the best players at this club and when we are in a rush or different pressures, and the reasons are not the right ones to get a player on board, we decided not to do it."
