Arsenal confirmed team news vs Newcastle as Emile Smith Rowe misses out

Arsenal are unchanged for their clash with Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners are looking to open up a 10-point gap at the top of the Premier League, and Mikel Arteta has opted for the same XI who got past Brighton on New Year's Eve.

That means there is no space in the squad for Emile Smith Rowe. The England midfielder had been pictured training at London Colney but, as reported by football.london earlier today, he is not with the group tonight and the hope is that he will be back in full training in the next couple of weeks.

Aaron Ramsdale is in goal, while William Saliba will be looking to put his error on the south coast behind him. He's partnered in the centre of defence by Gabriel, with Ben White starting at right-back and Alex Zinchenko getting the nod over Kieran Tierney on the left.

Thomas Partey starts at the base of the midfield with Granit Xhaka to the left of him. Completing the trio will be Martin Odegaard, who is looking to continue a run of form that has seen many call him the best in the Premier League right now.

The front three of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli will all be looking to make it three goals in three game tonight. There is no Cedric in the squad either, while youngster Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is on the bench.
