Gabriel has committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new long-term deal that will last up until 2027 football.london understands.
The Brazilian signed for the Gunners in the summer of 2020 and has established himself as a regular in Mikel Arteta's starting XI starting all but one of the club's matches this season in all competitions. football.london understands that the 24-year-old attracted attention from clubs across the continent last summer with Barcelona and Juventus among those to have been interested.
His existing deal was set to have two years on it this summer, creating some concerns over his future. However, Arsenal have now moved quickly to tie down the centre back who is viewed as key to Arteta's plans.

Speaking in reaction to the deal technical director Edu hailed the club's ability to seal the commitment of such an important player.
“It’s great that we’ve agreed a new deal with Gabi," he said. "At 24, he’s still a young player and is part of our future. His performances since he joined us in 2020 have been very strong and his positive impact to our results have been clear for everyone to see.
"He has grown so much on and off the pitch, with both his contribution and communication on and off the pitch. We all look forward to see Gabi continue to grow as an important part of our club.”
These sentiments were echoed by manager Mikel Arteta who praised Gabriel for how he has developed since his arrival from Lille just over two years ago.
“Gabi has shown huge qualities since he joined us," Arteta said. "He is a young player with a great work ethic and his consistent strong performances have been hugely important to us over the past two seasons.
"Working with Gabi every day is a pleasure, he has formed strong relationships with everyone at the club and we’re so pleased that he has committed to us on a long-term contract."
The deal marks the first of many that Arsenal are hoping to secure. football.london understands that Bukayo Saka and William Saliba's contracts both expire at the end of this season, although the Gunners retain the option to extend them by a further year. Gabriel Martinelli meanwhile will see his contract expire in 2024 although Arsenal retain the option to extend his current deal by a further two years. In all three cases Arsenal are hopeful of renewing the players on fresh terms.
