Arsenal Women 's league clash with Brighton & Hove Albion has been called off due to a frozen pitch at Broadfield Stadium, marking the latest episode in a remarkable slew of sudden postponements that has beset the women's top flight this weekend.
The decision to postpone the fixture comes after a pitch inspection was held at 2:30pm and is the third time this season that matches held at Brighton Women's home ground have fallen victim to adverse weather.
The postponement means Arsenal Women, who sit three points behind league leaders Manchester United but with a game in hand, will need to find the time to rearrange another fixture in an already crowded schedule as the Gunners compete on multiple competitive fronts.

The postponement was the third WSL match to be called off over a particularly frigid weekend. Tottenham Hotspur's home clash at Brisbane Road against relegation-threatened Leicester City on Sunday was called off on Saturday due to a frozen pitch, marking the second time this season Spurs have had to abandon a match because of surface conditions.
Meanwhile, Chelsea's early Sunday clash with Liverpool was abandoned just six minutes into the match after it was adjudged the playing surface was not fit for purpose and put players' safety in jeopardy.
Everton's 1:00pm fixture against West Ham on Sunday was pushed back an hour in order to allow ample time for the pitch to thaw and avoid postponement.
The WSL was not only the women's football league to be afflicted by frozen pitches. A potentially title-deciding Women's Championship clash between London City Lionesses and Bristol City was subject to late postponement on Sunday following a pitch inspection at Robins High Performance Centre.
The respective postponements dredge up serious questions about the quality of facilities afforded the top-flight of the women's game, with former Brighton manager Hope Powell and Chelsea manager Emma Hayes both voicing frustrations at the lack of undersoil heating and other measures available to women's teams to avoid such situations.
Arsenal Women return to action on Thursday with a FA WSL Cup fourth-round clash against fellow WSL side Aston Villa, before taking on Leeds Ladies in the fourth round of the FA Women's Cup on Sunday.
