Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham owners net worth dwarfed in $80bn rich list

Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea all feature in the list of the top 50 richest owners of sports clubs and franchises on the planet. With Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital continuing to make the news for largely the wrong reasons, it is a list full of successful and ambitious figures.

The Gunners have taken a major U-turn under Kroenke having reached an all-time low under the American in 2021 following the European Super League protests. That has been sidelined for now with a change of structure at the Emirates Stadium mixed with vast improvement on the pitch resulting in a more positive energy at the club.

The same cannot be said for Joe Lewis at Tottenham. The British investor owns 85% of the Lillywhites through ENIC group with the divisive Daniel Levy also playing a key role. Their stagnation since sacking Mauricio Pochettino and current disconnect is similar to that felt by their fierce rivals two years ago.

Chelsea appear on their way down the same slippy slope too with fans turning on their new owners after just 10 months. Boehly was confronted from above by frustrated fans during the 2-1 defeat to Brigton on Saturday and is now searching for the third full-time manager of his tenure.

What the three owners and groups have in common is their vast wealth. Kroenke Sports and Entertainment top the lot on a list compiled by OLBG. The American businessman is worth a reported $14.9bn. That is more than the $12.9bn listen on Forbes.

It is still someway off the top dogs in the world though with LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer worth nearly $100bn (£80.6bn). When it comes to the richest football club owners the results are completely unexpected.

The world's richest man between 2010-2013 according to Forbes, Carlos Slim, is the man to compete with and is worth a staggering $84.6bn. He purchased Spanish second division side Real Oviedo for just £2m in 2012.

When it comes to Premier League sides, Sheikh Mansour's $40bn makes him the wealthiest owner with Kroenke Sports and Entertainment next on that list. Trailing some way behind the Gunners' owners is Boehly in 41st for the all-sports list. His $6.4bn valuation includes his stakes in LA Lakers and LA Dodgers.

Lewis is just behind him coming in at $6.3bn, 44th on the list. Taking out owners with more than one sporting investment worldwide Lewis is the 30th richest.
