Arsenal can seal Leeds United transfer for player who loves Thierry Henry

Whatever happens at the end of the season, this summer is set up to be a huge one for Arsenal.

Champions League football for the 2023/24 campaign has been confirmed and a Premier League title might yet follow. The Gunners are the top flight's leaders, albeit two games behind Manchester City with only a two-point lead over Pep Guardiola's side.

Arsenal set up a Premier League title fight with some shrewd business in the transfer market last summer, buying Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City. More Premier League quality and experience was signed in January when Jorginho and Leandro Trossard arrived from Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion respectively.

Arsenal's faint hopes of signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund appear to have been dashed for good with the news that the England star is heading for Real Madrid, while it remains to be seen whether Moises Caicedo is a target in the summer after Brighton & Hove Albion blocked a departure in January. The Gunners will be looking to add a midfielder to Mikel Arteta's ranks this summer and they could raid one of the Premier League's strugglers and reignite interest in a former target too.

Amid concerns at Leeds United about relegation, there could be a mass exodus of talent from Elland Road if they go down. Sam Allardyce has been brought in to try and keep the Whites up following the sacking of Javi Gracia, with a huge task on the former England boss' hands with only four games to go.

If the Gunners are in the market for a defensively-minded midfielder, they could look no further than Tyler Adams. Adams is being linked with a move away from Leeds already ahead of the summer transfer window, with AC Milan reportedly keen on replacing Franck Kessie with him.

Reports in the German press last year claimed that Adams, 24, was a target for Arsenal before he moved to Leeds United. Bild claimed that the Gunners were keen on a £34 million move for the USMNT ace, who was inspired by legendary striker Thierry Henry growing up.

Adams was able to call Henry a team-mate when he came through the ranks at the New York Red Bulls in his native USA. "As a kid, I had a poster of Thierry Henry in my room," he said.

"I often watched his games for Arsenal or Barcelona and I was then able to train with him. "I became a professional because of Henry, he was my motivation."

Adams has made 24 Premier League appearances this season, since a £20 million move from RB Leipzig last summer. An accomplished USMNT international, Adams has 36 caps to his name and played at the Qatar World Cup in the winter.
