Arsenal can repeat deadline day transfer for £75m striker after Dusan Vlahovic window passes

The transfer window is enough to send many an Arsenal fan to the edge with the constant refreshing and tracking of news regarding possible incomings and outgoings.

This January transfer window has left Arsenal supporters frustrated thus far with players leaving and yet none brought in. The dominant name throughout has been Dusan Vlahovic. The Gunners have been pushing to try and complete a deal for the Serbian but so far have been unable.

There has been a persistence to Arsenal’s attempts to sign the Fiorentina forward and football.london understands that Edu has been trying to do ‘everything possible’ to do so.

If the Gunners want to reach the Champions League qualification spots, then these are the types of forwards the club must aim for. The issue lies in the associated risk of missing out on a player entirely.

However, Arsenal have proven to be savvy enough in the market to miss out on players and still secure quality in the final moments.

In 2020, despite a protracted pursuit of Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, Arsenal activated Thomas Partey’s release clause on deadline day.

This annoyed Atletico Madrid, but the player was willing to make the switch and Arsenal completed the signing of the Ghanaian.

Should the Gunners miss out on Vlahovic before the deadline they set themselves, there is an alternative that would allow Edu to repeat the same trick again.

Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak has been on the Gunners radar for some time. Rising to prominence to the wider audience at Euro 2020.

Isak is on the list of forwards that Arsenal have been considering, however, was looked at behind Vlahovic.

However, with the Serbian proving stubbornly difficult to move out of Italy, Arsenal may need to defer to their other options of which Isak would be the easiest, yet likely the most expensive, to sign.

Having had the aforementioned strong Euro 2020 tournament, the Swede signed a new contract with La Real and the club removed the buyback option Borussia Dortmund had on the 22-year-old.

His new release clause was increased to 90m (£75m) which Arsenal would surely have to pay with Sociedad looking to try and qualify for the Champions League.

Considering Isak has not been firing as frequently as Vlahovic, this would be a serious risk to take in the winter window. However, the money secured from qualifying for the Champions League could make the whole deal worth it.

Isak’s versatility too does not siphon off Arsenal’s capacity to follow through in the summer with an additional forward option and the well-known midfield necessity.

It is an option Edu should consider without a doubt and the Brazilian’s form for the Partey deal suggests it is not a fanciful suggestion in the slightest.
