Going into the summer it's clear where Arsenal are going to need to strengthen.
Edu has already got the ball rolling after New England Revolution confirmed that an agreement had been reached for Matt Turner to move to north London where he is expected to replace Bernd Leno as back up to Aaron Ramsdale.
The Brazilian's work will not end there though as he is likely to be in the market for two strikers to replace the outward bound Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, as well as at least one central midfield to come in for Mohamed Elneny who is likely to leave when his contract expires.
One position that isn't being talked about as much though is the right wing.
Bukayo Saka has largely had the position nailed since he overcame a slow start to the season following a busy summer in which he helped England reach the final of Euro 2020.
The 20-year-old has probably been the Gunners player of the season so far, providing their most consistent attacking threat and proving himself to be one of the best youngsters in the Premier League.
Beyond him though there could be a decision to make.
Nicolas Pepe will have just two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium come the end of this season.
The Ivorian arrived from Lille for a record £72million fee in the summer of 2019, but has yet to ever consistently establish himself as a starter under either Unai Emery, Freddie Ljungberg or Mikel Arteta.
That has only been amplified this season given the lack of European football, which has meant Pepe has only had limited opportunities to exhibit what he's capable of.
"With the amount of games we’re having there’s not enough room," Arteta said of the 26-year-old's plight. "With Nico’s situation it’s something similar.
"He needs more opportunities to show what he can do and in the last games he hasn’t had them. I understand but again I have to try to make the decision based on what I see every day.
"Nico is really willing to help the team. The reality is that in the position that he’s playing, Bukayo is there and he has been fantastic."
As a result it seems that Arsenal will have to make a decision on the future of their record signing come the summer.
If they decide to sell him then the chances are that they will need to bring in a replacement.
The Gunners are well stocked in the positions in behind the striker with the high-scoring Emile Smith Rowe, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all available as options, while 18-year-old Omari Hutchinson is showing signs that he could be the next youngster to step off the Hale End conveyor belt.
However, if they do end up qualifying for Europe then more depth will be needed to sustain a challenge on four fronts.
As they seek to acquire this, RB Leipzig's Christopher Nkunku could be the perfect man for the job.
The 24-year-old's name will be familiar to most Arsenal fans after they were heavily linked with signing him in the January window of 2019 on loan from PSG.
The Gunners ultimately ended up going for Denis Suarez instead, leaving Nkunku free to head to the Bundesliga. Given the fact that the Frenchman has 19 goals and 13 assists in 31 appearances for RB Leipzig this season, and Suarez has since gone down as one of the worst signings in the club's history it's fair to say Arsenal made the wrong choice.
However, there is a chance that they could be able to rectify that mistake this summer.
Reports have suggested that Manchester United could be interested in moving for the 24-year-old, as they seek to bolster their options in behind the striker.
If Edu was willing to sanction the move and help beat the Red Devils to the punch, then Arsenal could find their attacking options significantly boosted in the summer.
Arteta has previously stated that he only wants to bring players in to the Emirates Stadium who "raise the level" on what he's currently got. If Pepe does end up leaving, then Nkunku would undoubtedly fit that briefing.
