Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists there is nothing behind his decision to keep Kieran Tierney on the bench.
The Scotland international has been restricted to cameo appearances in each of the Gunners’ last five Premier League matches.
Despite an injury to Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back, Arteta, whose team lead the top-flight, has instead favoured the right-footed Takehio Tomiyasu in that position.
It has been a different story for former Celtic defender Tierney in Europe, with the player having started all five of their Europa League group matches to date.
Asked if there was a reason why Tierney continued to be overlooked in the league, Arteta said: “Nothing, every player, obviously the accumulation of minutes and they played Thursday night as well.
"We tried to name a team that is fresh and that is ready to win the game."
