Arsenal had a busy January transfer window, to say the least.
The north Londoners brought in attacker Leandro Trossard, central midfielder Jorginho and centre-back Jakub Kiwior to strengthen their Premier League title charge. However, they didn't land their primary target in the form of Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who joined London rivals Chelsea instead.
After Mudryk arrived at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners quickly moved for the aforementioned Trossard, although according to Spanish outlet Sport, via Sport Witness, they tried to get Barcelona wide man Raphinha first. It is claimed that Mikel Arteta's side offered €70million (£62million) to prise the Brazilian international away from the Camp Nou, a bid that was eventually turned down by the Blaugrana.

Barcelona boss Xavi is said to see the former Leeds United man as a key member of his first-team squad, urging the club's chiefs to sell someone else instead. Arsenal had tried to sign Raphinha last summer before the 26-year-old opted for a move to the La Liga giants instead, something Gunners technical director Edu spoke about in late July.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Edu said: "People think we went in too deep about Raphinha because Raphinha was everywhere. It's fair we did have some conversations with Deco because Deco is his agent, and I have a good relationship [with him] – we are friends.
"I just said to Deco, 'Can you explain to me the situation with Raphinha?' and he was clear. 'Edu, we have a good relationship, but I'm not going to lie to you, his idea is to go to Barcelona because he's dreaming of going to Barcelona, and we've been talking to Barcelona since a long time ago.'
"Okay, thank you very much. If something happens, then just let me know because I can explore and understand the situation. If not, no problem, and we carry on with our relationship."
