Arsenal and West Ham draw short straw as Premier League confirms festive fixtures plan

Arsenal and West Ham United have drawn the festive short straw as their Premier League clash is lined-up to be the late Boxing Day kick-off.

The Gunners are set to host the Hammers at the Emirates at 8pm, a game that will be shown live on Amazon Prime Video. Meanwhile, Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur will have things a little easier as they make the short trip to Brentford for a 12.30pm kick-off.

A statement on the Premier League's official website read: "The broadcast selections for live TV in the UK for Premier League matches in December and early January 2023 (Matchweeks 17-19) have been announced. The Premier League will resume on Boxing Day after the FIFA World Cup Final 18 December 2022.

"Special arrangements have been made to allow more time between matches played across the three festive match rounds. This will allow greater time for players to recover, with the rest period between Matchweeks 18-19 increased to ensure that no club play within 48 hours of another of their matches."

Positively though, all three of Arsenal's fixtures over the festive period will be televised. Their schedule can be seen below.

Monday, December 26: 20:00 Arsenal v West Ham (Prime Video)

Saturday, December 31: 17:30 Brighton v Arsenal (Sky Sports)

Tuesday, January 3: 20:00 Arsenal vs Newcastle (Sky Sports)
