Arsenal and Tottenham may have been handed a timely boost ahead of the summer transfer window after some changes in the Premier League. Leicester City have announced that manager Brendan Rodgers has left the club through a "mutual agreement" after four years in charge of the Foxes.
The former Liverpool coach guided the Midlands outfit to a first FA Cup trophy, but after a tough season, the one-time Premier League champions have been involved in a relegation scrap. The side currently sit in the bottom three after a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, marking Roy Hodgson's first win back in management.
Leicester City Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said in a club statement: “The achievements of the team under Brendan’s management speak for themselves – we’ve experienced some of our finest footballing moments under his guidance and will always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us to reach on the pitch.

“Off the pitch, Brendan embraced the culture of the Club and helped cultivate an outstanding developmental environment, particularly during the transition to Seagrave, and provided strong leadership during the unprecedented challenge of the coronavirus pandemic. His place in Leicester City history is assured.
“However, performances and results during the current season have been below our shared expectations. It had been our belief that continuity and stability would be key to correcting our course, particularly given our previous achievements under Brendan’s management. Regrettably, the desired improvement has not been forthcoming and, with 10 games of the season remaining, the Board is compelled to take alternative action to protect our Premier League status.
“The task ahead of us in our final 10 games is clear. We now need to come together – fans, players and staff – and show the poise, quality and fight to secure our position as a Premier League club.”
With the hunt for their next manager underway, the decision could be huge in ensuring the future of some of their key stars. One of those is James Maddison, who has impressed since joining the club from Norwich City and earned himself an England call-up for European Championship qualifiers last month.
With just over 12 months left on his deal, the playmaker has an uncertain future and the change in management could hand a boost to both Arsenal and Tottenham in landing him, having both been linked with a switch.
It remains to be seen whether the state of the Foxes will impact his decision in the summer, however it could change things considerably.
