Arsenal and Tottenham dealt transfer blow for Bundesliga midfielder amid Juventus interest

Arsenal and Tottenham have been dealt a potential blow in their pursuit of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria.

Both London clubs have reportedly shown interest in the 25-year-old, who is set to be a free agent in the summer, however Serie A side Juventus are now said to be pushing to sign him this January.

It would come as a blow to both teams, who have struggled to sign players this month, despite their concerted attempts to do so.

Arsenal had reportedly been pushing for both Dusan Vlahovic and Arthur Melo this month, though the former has now joined Juventus and the latter looks more likely to stay at the club after a collapse in talks.

As for Spurs, they had been linked with a move for Adama Traore and Luis Diaz, though both seem as though they are moving to other clubs in the remaining days of the window.

Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is reportedly nearing a potential move to the Tottenham Hotspur stadium though, which could relieve some worries about strengthening in the midfield in the market.

So while it hasn’t gone to plan for both clubs so far, they may have been dealt another blow in Zakaria making the potential switch to Juventus.

SportBILD reported back in October 2021 that the two North London rivals were showing interest, with the midfielder not set to extend his contract at his current club.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, the Bianconeri are making their move for the 25-year-old now rather than waiting for a free transfer in the summer.

The journalist claims that talks have been had over the past few hours over a last minute move, with Juve offering €7million (£5.8million) to land him this month.

While this may seem a transfer blow for Arsenal in particular, it may free up the possibility of signing Arthur once again.

As it usually does at this time, the transfer window moves quickly and deals that were off the table, could be back on once again.
