Arsenal and Manchester City set for RB Salzburg transfer battle as Mikel Arteta eyes fourth deal

Arsenal are facing competition from Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the race to sign RB Salzburg talent Oscar Gloukh. The Gunners are in the market for a versatile attacker as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his squad ahead of a return to the Champions League next season.

Kai Havertz became the first signing of the summer at the Emirates Stadium after completing a £65million switch from Chelsea. Declan Rice remains Arsenal's priority this summer and the 24-year-old is expected to complete a £105million move to north London by the end of this week.

Rice is excited to work under Arteta and snubbed interest from Manchester City - who had a £90million rejected by West Ham - to seal a move to the Emirates Stadium as a priority. Jurrien Timber is also expected to complete a £40million transfer from Ajax to the Gunners in the coming days as Arteta looks to reinforce the spine of his squad heading into the 2023/24 campaign.

Gloukh has emerged as a target for Arsenal who are looking to sign a young, versatile forward this summer. The 19-year-old is currently away on international duty for Israel Under-21s at the European Championships.

Israel take on England Under-21s in the semi-finals on Wednesday night. Arsenal, City, United and Spurs are among a large contingent of clubs who have shown an interest in the 19-year-old, according to The Guardian.

Gloukh joined Red Bull Salzburg in January for just €7million (£6m). Salzburg's sister club, RB Leipzig, would also like to bring the young Israeli to the Bundesliga in future. Although it is understood Gloukh would prefer to join a club in England or Spain.

Gloukh's contract at Salzburg is not set to expire until 2027 meaning it could take a huge fee to secure his signature this summer. The youngster scored eight goals and provided a further 10 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions last term.
