Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe could be on the move this summer after sending a formal letter to his current employers regarding his contract plans. The France World Cup winner sees his current deal at the Parisians expire in 2024 and he has since informed PSG that he will not take up the option of a one-year contract extension next summer.
Understandably, as one of the world's best, this put numerous European heavyweights on high alert. Real Madrid were of course the strongest club initially linked, given their past with Mbappe and the financial power they possess to pull off what would be a monumental deal.
However, the €103m (£88.5m) signing of Jude Bellingham rules out an imminent move to Los Blancos which could mean Mbappe leaves PSG on a free transfer next summer. That scenario playing out would open the door for numerous clubs including Chelsea with co-owner Todd Boehly as a firm admirer of the 24-year-old.
The Blues have consistently been linked with marquee moves for the likes of Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, but they could finally make that dream a reality. Following their superb 2022/23 campaign, Arsenal also cannot be ruled out as a potential destination with numerous wild theories emerging on social media that Mbappe was heading to Emirates Stadium, especially after he was pictured with Arsenal star Folarin Balogun.
Chelsea's Reece James posing with Mbappe at the Barcelona Grand Prix in early June also kicked off a transfer frenzy in west London. However, the likelihood of either signing Mbappe is currently seen as quite low going off recent comments made by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
Romano, via Caught Offside, wrote: “Despite some big headlines, I honestly have absolutely no news on any English clubs being in talks to sign Mbappe.

"If something will happen in the next months we will say that, but at this point I’ve absolutely zero information on this one. Real Madrid are always very well informed on Mbappe; I’m not aware of anything else at this point.”
