Arsenal have agreed a deal to bring New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner to the Emirates in the summer, football.london understands.
The two clubs have agreed on an initial £4.5m fee leading to £7.5m with further bonuses.
New England Revolution head coach Bruce Arena had confirmed that a deal was close.
“As speculated, there’s a chance we could lose Matt Turner,” Arena said.
“If things work out the right way we will lose him in the summer."
Now, football.london can confirm that Turner has agreed to a four-year contract with the club, who also have the option to extend for a further year.
Turner has already won 13 international caps with the USA and will certainly relish the challenge of being Aaron Ramsdale's understudy when Bernd Leno leaves the club as expected.
The German started the season as number one, but has since dropped down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium following an impressive start to Ramsdale's Gunners career.
As a result of his game time struggles, with a World Cup just around the corner, there have been rumours that the north Londoners may allow the former Bayer Leverkusen man to continue his push to make Hansi Flick's squad elsewhere.
Newcastle were amongst the clubs interested, but football.london understands that as of now, Leno will stay until the summer as the Gunners' established number two but he does want to move on from the club
His eventual destination remains unknown, but his future is expected to be sorted upon Turner's arrival.
