Overall it has to be considered a good transfer window for Arsenal, considering the new signings. Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko are excellent acquisitions and, in the current market, they represent decent value too.
One of the disappointments on incomings will be that Arsenal did not sign a winger, with a move for Raphinha failing due to Barcelona swooping. A deal for Wolves’ Pedro Neto also proved too expensive.
Arsenal also did not solve their midfield issue - which occurred late in the window after Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey both got injured - as three bids for Douglas Luiz were rejected by Aston Villa on deadline day.
The Gunners would have got a higher grade but once again they failed to sell well. Goalkeeper Bernd Leno went for an up-front fee of just £3million, while Hector Bellerin joined Barcelona for free.
The club also couldn’t finder a buyer for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, meaning he went out on loan again, and it can be argued that the £9m fee for Matteo Guendouzi was low given that he is a France international.
That amount was pre-arranged as part of his loan move to Marseille and it is telling that Arsenal no longer include obligation to buy clauses in their loan agreements.
