Nwaneri Nets First Premier League Goal In Comfortable Win
Looking to bounce back after a disappointing spell prior to November’s international window, Arsenal welcomed high-flying Nottingham Forest to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners were winless in three across all competitions prior to the fixture, having suffered 1-0 defeats to Newcastle and Inter Milan, which preceded a 1-1 draw with city rivals Chelsea in their last league outing.
As for Forest, they came into this one level on points with Arsenal in sixth place, but played out a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Newcastle at the City Ground last time out.
Dubbed a ‘must win’ by many, it didn’t take long for the Gunners to take control of the tie. A nice one-two between Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard saw the former dance his way in between the visiting defence before expertly converting into the top right corner past Matz Sels to open the scoring after 15 minutes.
Arsenal continued to dominate for large parts of the game and doubled their lead just seven minutes into the second half.
Thomas Partey, introduced as a half-time substitute for Jorginho, smashed home the second from outside the area, with Saka registering his eighth league assist of the campaign.
A wonderful afternoon for Mikel Arteta’s side was rounded off with a lovely moment for talented youngster Ethan Nwaneri in the 86th minute, as the Hale End academy graduate slotted home his first ever Premier League goal.
Victory sees the Gunners maintain their position in fourth place in the English top-flight table, while Forest end the day three points adrift in sixth place.
