Arrested man released on bail following alleged attacks on Gay Village adult store Clonezone

A man was arrested by police investigating a series of alleged attacks on an adult store has been released on bail.

The man was detained following alleged incidents at Clonezone, an adult store in Manchester's Gay Village. The Sackville Street store, beside Canal Street, had its windows smashed by vandals three times in just six weeks, police said.

The first alleged incident happened on March 22, prompting the venue to issue an emotional public statement. It read: "Windows can be broken but the LGBTQIA+ community cannot." Its glass front door was then smashed on the evening of April 13, GMP said.

The third incident happened on the evening of April 24, shortly before 6pm, as staff were still working inside.

We are still asking for anyone with any information to please get in touch with us – whether it’s big or small, it could greatly assist our investigations."

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call GMP on 101 quoting log number 2955 of 24/04/2023, or using the Live Chat on the GMP website. Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity – Crimestoppers – on 0800 111 555.
