All arrangements for the conduct of the SSLC and Plus Two higher secondary and vocational higher secondary examinations have been completed, Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty has said.
He was addressing mediapersons in connection with the upcoming public examinations here on Sunday. As many as 8.91 lakh students in the State will appear for the SSLC and Plus Two higher secondary and vocational higher secondary examinations.
The SSLC examinations will be held from March 31 to April 29. The SSLC Information Technology (IT) practicals will be held from May 3 to 10. In all, 4.27 lakh students will appear for the SSLC examinations in 2,962 centres.
The Plus Two higher secondary examinations will be conducted from March 30 to April 26. Practical examinations will begin from May 3. A total of 4.32 lakh students will appear for the Plus Two higher secondary examinations from 2,005 centres.
The Plus Two vocational higher secondary examinations will be held from March 30 to April 26. Directions have been issued to complete the practical examinations by May 15. As many as 31,332 studdets will appear from the VHSE examinations. There will be 389 centresl
The Minister said directions had been issued to top officials of the General Education Department to visit schools and review the arrangements directly using a check-list.
New academic year
Mr. Sivankutty said the new academic year would begin on June 1. Pravesanotsavam would be held in all schools. Preparations would be made in association with departments such as Health and Transport.
Special attention would be paid to honing the skills of the differently abled in the new session. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) had been entrusted with this task. Services of digital clinics would be available in schools to ensure that digital equipment were working fine. Detailed guidelines would be brought out for reconstituting parent-teacher associations and improving their functioning.
Academic master plan
Workshops would be held in schools in May for the preparation of the crucial academic master plans, Mr. Sivankutty said. General guidelines for the plan preparation would be issued at the State level. The plans should target comprehensive development of schools.
Training of teachers for classes 1 to 7 would likely be held in May. The training for the remaining teachers would be held in phases after valuation of answer scripts. Training module preparation was on.
The Minister said steps had been taken to distribute textbooks to all students before the new session began. Mr. Sivankutty said no child’s education should suffer because he/she was denied transfer certificate (TC) by a school.
