Around 20 people were involved in a mass brawl that broke out on a quiet estate in Trafford on Wednesday night (December 7). Weapons were used in the attack, which saw police swarm to the area shortly after 10pm.
Officers were called to reports of a 'large-scale violent disorder' on Thirsk Avenue, in Sale, involving as many as 20 people, with some seen to be carrying and using weapons.
The group then ran off as police arrived, but one man, aged 37, was arrested on suspicion of public disorder and remains in custody for further questioning. A black Mercedes and a number of weapons were also seized from the vehicle at the scene, with an investigation to identify those involved now underway.

Greater Manchester Police have announced they will be introducing stop and search powers in response to the fight with an increased number of officers also patrolling the nearby streets due to 'concern' caused to local residents.
The Section 60 powers, which allow officers to stop and search anyone within the specified area between 6pm on Thursday and 9am on Friday (December 9), will cover the Sale West estate, within and including, Firsway, Cherry Lane, Manor Avenue, Haydock Avenue, Lingfield Avenue and Woodhouse Lane.
Chief Inspector Shoheb Chowdhury of GMP’s Trafford district said: “Firstly, I would like to reassure the public that this incident last night has certainly not gone un-noticed and we are actively pursuing all lines on enquiry to establish the circumstances of this incident.
"We understand the use of a Section 60 can cause concern to local residents, however, we use these powers only when proportionate and necessary.
“We are also aware that this incident has rightly caused concern in the local area. We have increased the number of officers on patrol around the local area to help provide reassurance in the area and they are more than happy to provide a listening ear to any concerns or information you may have about any crimes or issues in your area.
“I would like to urge the public to please come forward with any information, CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage you may have regarding last night’s incident. Even if you think your piece of information is insignificant, it could be a huge help to our investigation and help us find who is responsible for this unacceptable display of violence in our community.”
