Arnold Schwarzenegger lands top job at Netflix and drives tank over car on first day

Arnold Schwarzenegger has landed a job at streaming giant Netflix and had a first day to remember. The Hollywood star has been named as Chief Action Officer (CAO) after a career which saw him transition from 'the best bodybuilder in the world', to 'the most recognisable action star around'.

Announcing Arnie's arrival, Netflix released a statement welcoming the film legend: "Nobody knows action like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold is working around the clock to bring you the most explosive series and films on earth! Get ready for a hard-hitting roller coaster ride as Netflix cranks its action slate into the next gear."

The appointment comes as Schwarzenegger prepares for the launch of his first ever series, FUBAR, which premieres on May 25. The action-comedy sees a father and daughter discover they both secretly work for the CIA.

Arnie's first day at Netflix

Ever the showman, Schwarzenegger marked his first day as CAO by driving a tank over a Mercedes with the support of the stunt team he's worked with for 30 years. According to the team that created the video, Arnold was keen to find a fun way to utilise his personal tank — an M47 Patton that he brought over to the US from Austria.

On driving his personal tank, he told Netflix: "I drove this exact tank when I was an 18-year-old in the Austrian army, and many years later I was fortunate enough to be able to bring it to the US. So when Netflix wanted to name me as CAO, I jumped at the opportunity to have a little fun with the tank."

According to Schwarzenegger, the Austrian army had actually buried the tank as part of their decommissioning process after his own service. However, after he reached out to the army, they dug it up and restored the tank. Schwarzenegger now uses it to raise money for charity.

Stunts aside, Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking his new role seriously. He said: "I've always been passionate about delivering the best action possible, whether it was in my films like Terminator, in my new action comedy FUBAR... The toughest part is that I love action so much, I want to put it into everything I watch... romantic comedies, stand-up, dramas — all candidates for more explosions in my opinion."
