A school has clarified a change to its PE kit policy after speculation on social media. Arnold Hill Academy, in Gedling Road, Arnold, will now ask students to change into their kit at the start of the lesson from their school uniform.
Before this change, students were asked to come to school in their PE kit for social distancing reasons - so students didn't change close to each other and, potentially, spread the virus. Now, students will revert back to using the changing rooms and changing into their kit before the lesson.
Matthew Robinson, the principal at Arnold Hill Academy, confirmed the changes were simply reverting back to how the school operated before the pandemic. He said many schools and academies implemented the same system.

Some parents had taken to a local Facebook group to question why they weren't consulted more in the process. But Mr Robinson said: "All that is happening is, if you think back to the days before Covid, children came into school in their normal school uniform and then changed into their PE kit at the start of their PE lesson.
"When Covid came many schools changed their practice and asked students to come to school in their PE kit so they didn’t have to change in close proximity to each other in the changing rooms. Now we are converting back to what we did before Covid, where you change into your PE kit in the normal changing rooms. This is what happens in schools and academies across the UK."
