Arnold Allen issues statement on UFC on ESPN 44 loss to Max Holloway: ‘Just wasn’t good enough’

Arnold Allen offered no excuses in the aftermath of his first octagon loss at UFC on ESPN 44.

Allen (19-2 MMA, 10-1 UFC) saw his remarkable winning streak to begin his UFC tenure halted on Saturday when he dropped a unanimous decision to former featherweight champ Max Holloway (24-7 MMA, 20-7 UFC) at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Mo.

The Brit had his moments over the course of the five-round contest, but ultimately he didn’t have quite enough to get the upper hand on Holloway and is now sent back to the drawing board.

He’ll return back with a positive mindset, however, as Allen’s first social media statement showed tremendous maturity (via Instagram):

An honour to share the cage with a legend in @blessedmma I just wasnt good enough tonight

Thanks for the support ❤️

Although Allen, 29, has not yet gone into the finer details of what went wrong on fight night, UFC president Dana White had no problem offering some criticism toward Allen’s corner, whom he believed let him down as the rounds wore on and the fight slipped away.
