Arne Slot receives apology from Amazon Prime after referee claim

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has received a formal apology from Amazon Prime after their presenter Dan Walker suggested that Slot had entered referee Andy Madley’s dressing room at halftime.

Walker made the claim during halftime of Amazon Prime’s broadcast of Liverpool’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Newcastle.

Walker suggested on-air that Slot had breached regulations by entering the referee’s dressing room—an act strictly prohibited to maintain officiating integrity.

Walker’s comment, described by Prime Video as stemming from a “production misunderstanding,” suggested improper behaviour by the Liverpool manager.

The Times later clarified that Slot had only spoken to Madley briefly in the tunnel, a permitted and commonplace interaction, and had not entered the referees’ dressing room as alleged.

Following the broadcast, Amazon Prime quickly moved to address the matter, issuing a public apology to Slot and Liverpool. They acknowledged the error as miscommunication within the production team.

The Liverpool camp, along with Slot, have reportedly accepted the apology, considering the matter closed.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was asked about the incident but refrained from engaging in any controversy.

“I don’t think I’ll go there. I think that’s a can of worms. I tend to focus on my team,” he said.

Liverpool are now gearing up for their next challenge in the Merseyside derby against Everton on Saturday, December 7, where they will be looking to continue their title charge.
