Arne Slot has responded to reports that Liverpool could sign Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia during the January transfer window.
Liverpool Could Consider Move For Kvaratskhelia
Transfer expert David Ornstein revealed on Thursday night that Liverpool could consider a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this month.
He said that while Liverpool are not actively seeking the winger, they are a fan and could make a move if the Georgian international is to leave Napoli this month.
Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are also said to be in the race for the talented 23-year-old.
🚨 Liverpool could consider move to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia if leaves Napoli in Jan. #LFC not actively seeking winger but admire 23yo, alert to situation + may contend if becomes market opportunity. #PSG & #CFC also among interested clubs @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/sSuEI0LSFR

He predominantly plays on the left-wing where Liverpool already have a number of options. Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo mainly operate on the left-flank while Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota can also play in that position.
Liverpool therefore might have to make a significant sale for one of those players if they do go for the Napoli star.
Their chances are boosted by the fact that Napoli hold interest in Federico Chiesa who has struggled for appearances since joining Liverpool.
The reports on Thursday night was music to the ears of Liverpool fans. Especially at a time when they keep hearing Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could all leave.
Arne Slot Responds to Transfer Speculation
Liverpool boss Arne Slot has played down suggestion that his side could make a move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
While he didn’t dismiss the speculation, he said that ’99 out of 100 stories’ aren’t true.
“When you said yourself ‘linked with’, I was thinking: ‘Which club is he going to say now? But you mean as a club we are linked with Kvaratskhelia,” Slot said.
“What I make of that is that this is January and I think I said it after the West Ham United game [to journalists], please don’t disappoint me, please come up with all these players and all these clubs that are in the interest of us.
“Or the ones that don’t play a lot for us are going to go somewhere else. That [speculation] is what is happening now.
“And nine out of 10 times or 99 out of 100 times it’s been clear that almost all of these stories weren’t true. So what can I comment about it? The rumours keep going for it but no comment from my side.”
