Army doctor Capt Deeksha posted as Medical Officer with Parachute Regiment

Capt Deeksha undergoing rigorous training

New Delhi: Captain Deeksha, Army doctor, is posted as Medical Officer with Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) battalion. She has undergone rigorous training with the special forces troops.

Capt Deeksha was also part of the team that was sent to earthquake-hit Turkey. As part of Operation Dost, she was deployed to Turkey in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake. Her role in providing medical care in such a challenging environment would have required both skill and determination.

She is a medical doctor and is trained for special operations as she may be required to provide help to troops during special operations.

While women are not currently allowed to join the Para SF as combat soldiers, Indian Army doctors of both genders are regularly attached to Para SF battalions and undergo the same rigorous training as the Para SF soldiers. (with Agency inputs)
